About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Engineer-VFDs opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role involves providing engineering support for motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motor Control Centers (MCCs), and low-voltage power distribution systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performance evaluations, upgrades, testing, and maintenance activities. The engineer will also design and upgrade facility systems and components, review and approve system design changes/modifications, and oversee assigned system operations, testing, and maintenance. Ensuring system operation within established limits and safety analysis is crucial. The role requires reviewing changes to plant configuration to assess their impact on design, safety basis, operations, and procedures. Additionally, the engineer will perform Engineering Evaluations of equipment and systems, conduct calculations, develop engineering calculation reports, and support the resolution of corrective actions or deficiencies. A physical ability to perform system walk-downs in the field, including climbing ladders, is necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Nuclear, chemical or wastewater facility experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) to twenty (20) years’ experience related to engineering discipline (electrical) and/or field/system engineering.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems including motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motor Control Centers (MCCs), and low-voltage power distribution systems (600V and below).
  • Experience troubleshooting, evaluating, specifying, or modifying VFD-controlled motor systems in an operating industrial, chemical, wastewater, nuclear, or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards.

Nice To Haves
