Electrical Engineer V

Hargrove and Associates•Port Arthur, TX

About The Position

This role is responsible for performing front-end phase electrical load studies, ETAP modeling, and specification reviews for switchgears and transformers using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. The work is performed under general supervision. Responsibilities include adhering to department design and drafting standards, understanding project scope and criteria, recognizing and communicating scope changes, providing on-site assistance during startup, producing preliminary designs and material take-offs for estimates, and creating detailed design calculations and sketches. Emphasis is placed on efficient material use, ease of construction, and meeting client expectations. The role also involves checking calculations by other engineers, assisting the drafting group, consulting with other disciplines, advising senior engineers on design changes, and assisting in developing procurement packages. Reviewing vendor drawings, developing construction specifications, and performing fieldwork for data gathering and construction support are also key duties. The position provides technical guidance to less experienced personnel and requires knowledge of engineering, design, and construction methods for process and manufacturing projects, applying advanced engineering techniques to complex designs. Specific tasks include producing installation details, single lines, layouts, elementary diagrams, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts, and grounding, lighting, power, and instrumentation plans. Developing conceptual layouts, cost studies, and small work-sharing packages for interoffice execution support are also part of the role.
