About The Position

Andrenam is seeking an early career Electrical Engineer to ensure their hardware functions correctly. The role involves owning Electrical Engineering (EE) test and Quality Assurance (QA), including testing boards and assemblies, troubleshooting failures, and diagnosing issues within their buoy hardware. As the engineer gains system knowledge, they will progress to harness and simple PCBA design. The position also includes supporting custom hardware integrations for specific customer needs. The engineer will collaborate with the electrical design team, who will provide support for system familiarization. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, takes ownership, and is motivated to grow as an engineer while contributing to the company's scaling processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on electrical experience through coursework, projects, internships, or student engineering teams, with at least one project that can be detailed.
  • Comfortable reading schematics and using common lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and a willingness to investigate unfamiliar problems until resolved.
  • Clear communication skills and a history of effective collaboration across teams.
  • A high sense of ownership, a strong work ethic, and a drive to learn quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to schematic capture or PCB layout tools.
  • Board bring-up or hardware debugging experience.
  • Experience with wire harness design, builds, or drawings.
  • Scripting experience (such as Python) for test automation.
  • Experience on a student engineering team such as robotics, SAE, or similar design-build competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Own electrical testing of boards, subassemblies, and full buoy systems.
  • Build and improve test procedures for consistent unit checking.
  • Track test results and quality issues, flagging trends to the design team.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical failures across buoy hardware.
  • Collaborate with the electrical design team to identify root causes and verify fixes.
  • Partner with technicians and manufacturing teams to resolve build issues promptly.
  • Support harness builds, drawings, and documentation.
  • Over time, take on PCBA design and revisions with support from senior engineers.
  • Support custom and one-off integration builds for special customer requirements, assisting with building and testing through deployment.
  • Help verify that new integrations do not compromise core subsystem power, communications, or performance.
