About The Position

Neuralink is creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain, aiming to restore movement to the paralyzed, sight to the blind, and revolutionize human interaction with the digital world. The Surgery & Robotics Hardware Team is seeking Electrical Engineers to advance healthcare solutions with technology. This team designs fully autonomous robotics systems, human assistive surgical tools, and entire surgical suites to improve customer experiences. They work on a surgical robot system designed to fully automate the implantation of the Neuralink implant, integrating multi-axis robotic arms, perception systems (including custom imaging hardware and optical coherence tomography tissue imaging), power electronics, and safety systems like 3D spatial mapping/object avoidance sensors. The team also utilizes pre-op MRI scans to generate patient anatomy data for precise surgery site registration. Beyond R&D, they are responsible for bringing technologies to market, performing full lifecycle testing, and manufacturing devices for human surgeries. Their designs have already served over 20 individuals and are projected to serve thousands in the coming years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Professional experience delivering on all phases of electronics design (requirements, part selection, schematic, layout, manufacturing, test)
  • Demonstrated depth in at least one of the following: Power electronics (designing custom power conversion, distribution, eFusing, and battery management systems in the low-to-medium (1W-2kW) range) OR FPGA hardware design for time sensitive systems (image processing, high-speed data acquisition, or real time networking) including FPGA selection, RTL development, digital signal processing theory and techniques, and hardware design to interface high speed physical layer devices via PCIe, MIPI, SLVS-ec, LVDS, etc OR Test automation design (architecting and implementing manufacturing automation solutions for products that currently ship at the scale of 1000’s+)
  • Practical electronics design knowledge including designing for EMC, ESD, thermals and packaging

  • A portfolio showcasing your hardware designs
  • Demonstrable experience developing electronics for safety critical systems such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or military
  • Demonstrable experience shipping code in one of the following languages: C, C++, Python, or Rust
  • Altium experience
