About The Position

Working as part of a joint venture with BWXT to form BWSR, Engineers report to the Engineering Manager in support of the Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) efforts at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Kesselring Site in West Milton, New York. The Electrical Engineer of Radiological Work (ERW) works closely with Operations, Radiological Controls, and EH&S personnel to develop detailed work procedures and facility deactivation plans to support site wide Radiological D&D work activities. ERWs are provided training and must maintain qualifications to strict Program standards that regulate the conduct of this work. ERWs are responsible for assessing conditions associated with work assignments and determining the most efficient method of performing work that satisfies all Program and local requirements.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Science is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Nuclear, Construction, Demolition or Remediation fields
  • US Citizenship is required: no dual citizenship
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptation to culture focusing on Safety and Health
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Level L Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience is preferred but not required
  • Radiological, environmental and electrical engineering experience is preferred
  • Autocad Inventor experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Developing and authoring technical work documents and facility electrical deactivation plans for the company's specialized workforce to safely and efficiently perform radiological and other hazardous remediation
  • Participating in work scoping to understand site conditions, work to be performed, and end state
  • Participating in developing project schedules
  • Developing technical specifications for subcontracted work
  • Developing facility characterization plans
  • Overseeing and examining production/subcontractor work
  • Must be aware of federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations.
  • Developing Project Closeout and Release Reports
