QED Systems LLCAberdeen Proving Ground, MD
$80,000 - $115,000Onsite

About The Position

QED Systems, LLC is recruiting an Electrical Engineer, Radio Frequency, to join their team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, to support the C5ISR Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division contract. This role involves designing, simulating, and implementing advanced radio frequency (RF) systems and digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for government and defense mission requirements. The engineer will analyze RF system architectures, transform raw data into intelligence products, prototype and test DSP algorithms, and perform various signal processing tasks for RF applications. Support for hardware-in-the-loop testing, integration activities, and system testing using specialized RF equipment is also required. Additionally, the role includes developing machine learning and data fusion techniques, conducting modeling and simulation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and preparing technical documentation for government stakeholders. The position also involves applying standard engineering practices, constructing laboratory breadboards, performing analyses, and assisting senior engineers.

Requirements

  • Must be able to think critically and apply analytical methodologies to raw data to present clear and precise recommendations.
  • Apply critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills to identify root causes, resolve technical issues, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate analysis through both oral and written communication.
  • Presentation and briefing skills to top level managers required.
  • Must have the technical background and skills to perform in all phases of hardware design, development, and documentation.
  • Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and professionalism while working with diverse teams, customers, and mission partners.
  • Adapt to evolving mission priorities, emerging technologies, and dynamic program requirements in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Engineering or related electronics/electrical discipline.
  • At least four (4) years of experience required with progressively more complex experience in design, development, integration and analysis of hardware projects required.
  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Secret

Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and implement advanced radio frequency (RF) systems and digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms in support of government and defense mission requirements.
  • Develop and analyze RF system architectures, including link budget analysis, waveform characterization, and antenna performance evaluation.
  • Transform raw in-phase and quadrature (IQ) data into actionable intelligence products through signal processing and analytical techniques.
  • Prototype, test, and validate DSP algorithms using MATLAB, Simulink, Python (NumPy/SciPy), and C/C++ development environments.
  • Perform filtering, spectral analysis, channelization, modulation/demodulation, detection theory, and multi-rate signal processing for RF applications.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and integration activities for RF and communications systems.
  • Utilize software-defined radios (SDRs), spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related RF test equipment to conduct system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Develop machine learning and data fusion techniques to enhance RF signal analysis, detection, and classification capabilities.
  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and performance analysis of RF and DSP systems to ensure compliance with technical and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, integrate, and deploy mission-critical RF and signal processing solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, test procedures, and briefings for government stakeholders and program leadership.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, program managers, and non-technical personnel.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment through active participation, constructive feedback, and professional engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Applies standard practices and techniques in specific engineering assignments.
  • Constructs laboratory breadboards and/or prepares preliminary sketches, writes computer programs or performs analyses/simulations.
  • Assists in preparation of data and documentation.
  • Instructs, as required, engineering technicians.
  • Performs fundamental engineering duties and assists senior engineers in formulating preliminary designs, performing tests, taking measurements and performing system analyses or simulations.
