About The Position

The Marine Electrical Engineer I is a mid-level staff position jointly responsible for engineering, commissioning, and documentation of marine sales projects within our engineering staff. The job involves both in-house and field electrical design, troubleshooting, and customer interaction in a very integrated team environment. This position will have a strong focus on electrical controls, power generation, and electrical communications for marine vessels. Local travel to Louisiana and Florida is routine, USA-wide, and international travel is more seldom. We want a socially adaptable, highly intelligent, and hard-working engineer who thrives on challenges and who wants to work on a very close-knit team. This person needs an honest work ethic, a humble willingness to learn from anyone, and must be clever enough to apply all available resources toward problem solving. This person must be able to communicate and summarize intricate technical issues to audiences of various levels of technical ability. We are looking for someone with experience, talent, and behavior traits who can execute this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of marine vessels and equipment
  • Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • at least 3 years’ experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and publish package, control, and integration drawings according to our sales documentation and our customers’ needs
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, field technicians, sales representatives, our suppliers, shipyards, architects, owners, and owners’ other suppliers
  • Support sales representatives with research and design for sales quotations
  • Perform installation and commissioning in the field
  • Solve product and design problems in the field (Application issues, Supplier product issues, Technical design faults, Project design feedback for future enhancement)
  • Create 2D electrical drawings
  • Perform equipment installation/performance troubleshooting on the job site
  • Teach other technically oriented people how to operate or manipulate equipment and control systems
  • Implement revisions to designs in the field, on the fly
  • Conduct engineering research in the office to solve customer, vendor, and coworker issues
