About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer IV, you will be the senior electrical authority on the firm's largest and most complicated projects. You will stamp and seal the work, decide how the systems get designed and detailed, and stay with a project from the first feasibility study through final field inspection. When a project team hits an electrical problem it cannot solve, you are who they call. When a project needs someone in the room with the client or the reviewing agency, you are who goes. This is a technical leadership seat, not a management track you have to take to keep growing. You will set the standards the discipline works to, mentor the engineers behind you, and weigh in on strategic decisions that reach past your own projects. The work includes first-of-their-kind designs: renewable energy integration, smart grid, advanced control systems. Requirements

Serve as engineer of record on assigned major projects, producing PE-stamped designs and specifications that meet the client's goals, hold to Performance Based Design principles, and comply with code.
Technical authority on electrical code and standards (NEC, IEC, and international standards).
Represent the firm in discussions with building officials and government agencies.
Own the quality review of complex electrical documentation.
Set the discipline's documentation standards in Revit and AutoCAD.
Be the client's primary technical contact on assigned projects.
Lead cross-disciplinary teams through complex scope, coordination, and sequencing problems.
Work with Project Managers and Team Leaders on project plans for large-scale initiatives.
Lead field inspections on major projects.
Mentor engineers and designers across the company.
Serve as technical resource to senior and executive staff on major decisions for current and future work.
Bring in new work through your professional network.
Stay visible in the industry, in professional organizations, and with past clients.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical design on the firm's most complex projects. Serve as engineer of record on assigned major projects, producing PE-stamped designs and specifications that meet the client's goals, hold to Performance Based Design principles, and comply with code. This includes the least precedented work the firm takes on, from renewable energy integration and smart grid design to advanced control systems.
Act as the firm's technical authority on electrical code and standards. Be the person the discipline defers to on NEC, IEC, and international standards, and represent the firm in discussions with building officials and government agencies. Track where the codes are heading, bring that back into how the discipline designs, and contribute to code development where the opportunity is there.
Own the quality review of complex electrical documentation. Review critical drawings, calculations, and specifications for accuracy and compliance before anything leaves the office, with no unresolved deviations reaching the client. Give feedback that improves the design, not just feedback that clears the checklist.
Set the discipline's documentation standards in Revit and AutoCAD. Establish and maintain the standards and procedures the electrical team draws to, so a set of documents looks and reads the same regardless of which office or project team produced it.
Be the client's primary technical contact on assigned projects. Work with clients through the full project lifecycle, get to the real objectives behind the stated scope, and translate design strategy into terms a client, a facilities director, and a contractor each understand. Deliver the reports and presentations that carry those decisions.
Make the hard technical calls that protect the schedule and the firm. Lead cross-disciplinary teams through complex scope, coordination, and sequencing problems. Work with Project Managers and Team Leaders on project plans for large-scale initiatives, and surface risk early enough that there is still room to fix it. Lead field inspections on major projects so what gets built matches the design intent.
Build the depth of the electrical team behind you. Mentor engineers and designers across the company, lead Lessons Learned sessions, and serve as technical resource to senior and executive staff on major decisions for current and future work. The standard is a team that can take on harder projects each year because of what you taught them.
