About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO office. This position will support the Electrical team in Merrick’s Life Sciences business unit. This position will offer the opportunity to work on a wide array of projects including biocontainment laboratories and other research facilities. Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

Requirements

  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing a degree as an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Technologist with an electrical emphasis.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate or technologist degree.
  • Knowledge of facility electrical and lighting design and/or power system design.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for client projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Knowledge of power distribution design software (SKM, PowerTools, Easy Power).
  • Local Candidates Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Electrical team in Merrick’s Life Sciences business unit.
  • Work on a wide array of projects including biocontainment laboratories and other research facilities.
  • Gain technical experience in the field of electrical design.
  • Be exposed to a variety of electrical engineering experiences and tasks including, but not limited to, facility electrical power, lighting, grounding, fire detection, lighting system, communication systems and security and access control.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Interface with clients and contractors.
  • Follow schedules and budget commitments.
  • Work independently.
  • Problem solve.
