About The Position

Saltworks Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineer with an Instrumentation Focus. This role is primarily design-driven (70%) with a significant portion (30%) on the production floor. The position requires a blend of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and production planning skills, with a core emphasis on instrumentation. The company is willing to invest in and train individuals with overlapping backgrounds who show a strong interest in the field.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • An interest in instrumentation and how process, electrical, and mechanical needs intersect to select the right product for an application.
  • 2 -4 years of experience building a foundation in electrical and mechanical principles.
  • A high degree of organization and attention to detail, with a genuine interest in mapping out complete systems — lugs, wires, disconnects, glands, and all.
  • The ability to multitask comfortably across a varied, fast-moving role.
  • Curiosity, resourcefulness, and a proactive drive to learn new technical principles and technologies.
  • The ability to read and interpret both P&IDs and electrical schematics.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, paired with a positive, can-do attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of EPLAN, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks (an asset; training available).

Responsibilities

  • Specify instruments by evaluating process, electrical, and mechanical requirements to ensure the right product is selected for each application.
  • Develop electrical hardware work packages that detail everything needed to connect electrical panels to field devices, including wiring, lugs, disconnects, and termination hardware.
  • Produce installation instructions and parts lists for interfacing electrical and mechanical systems, covering field connectors, cable glands, and enclosure mounting.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production specialists, with mentorship and support as you grow into a subject matter expert role.
  • Support production floor operations approximately 30% of the time, applying hands-on knowledge to assembly, troubleshooting, and system commissioning.
