About The Position

Montana Technological University invites applications for the faculty position within the Electrical Engineering Department at the Instructor 1 or Instructor 2 Level. Instructor Track requires BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field. Position includes lab director duties. All candidates must have the ability to obtain a PE or EIT license in the state of Montana. The department offers BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering as well as a PhD in Energy Engineering and Science. Montana Tech is a special focus university with reputation for excellence localized in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The department has a strong commitment to undergraduate education and maintains externally funded research programs in power systems a control systems. Applications screening starts immediately and continues until the position is filled. Possible start date of January 2027 or August 2027.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited program.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) license as an Electrical Engineer in Montana.
  • MS in a technical area supporting an EE subject (e.g., engineering disciplines, physics, computer science).
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Montana within one year of hire.
  • College-level teaching experience with demonstrated excellent performance.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses and labs for the Electrical Engineering Department.
  • Advise students and student projects.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory facilities within the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Provide service to the campus and community.
  • Participate in Electrical Engineering program development.
