About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer-In-Training or Designer, you will learn the basics of Revit aided drafting and electrical design. This position will gain an understanding of the applicable codes and regulations that govern our industry and how to apply basic calculations required for determining loads in kilowatts and amps as measured between various system voltages. An Electrical EIT or Designer will apply this knowledge in the design of branch circuiting and feeders to serve electrical loads (power and lighting) on a variety of project types. This position will learn how to read and understand architectural plans and how to coordinate with other related disciplines in the production of contract documents. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • 0-5 years of job-related experience
  • Sitting for the FE or a Current EIT certification
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office
  • Competent mathematical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of an experienced engineer apply basic design criteria, prepare, and change drawings, including input, set up, and red line corrections
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of NEC 250 grounding requirements for electrical services, distribution systems, and branch circuits. Know NEC 250 tables and the differences between service and equipment grounds
  • Possess a basic understanding of branch circuit conductors and NEC 310 tables on conductor sizing and insulation types
  • Demonstrate competence of NEC 210, 215 and 220 in applying demand factors to branch feeders, motors, and circuits including over current protection devices. Functional knowledge of NEC receptacle, lighting, and equipment load calculations for branch panels and services
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of conduit types, sizing, and systems including conduit fill ratios and applications as defined by NEC informative annex “C”
  • Create basic one-line diagrams and perform basic level load calculations for simple electrical services leading to the service size in volts, phase, amps, and KVA
  • Other duties as assigned
