About The Position

Based in Vancouver, this role is part of WSP’s Water & Wastewater Infrastructure practice, where electrical engineering plays a critical role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable systems for communities. As an Electrical Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT), you will support the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects that shape how water is treated, conveyed, and managed. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain hands‑on exposure across the full project lifecycle—from concept and detailed design through construction and commissioning—while building the technical foundation for your professional engineering career.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in electrical or EIC system design, preferably within municipal water or wastewater projects
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, PLCs, communications, and P&IDs
  • Strong attention to detail, sound time‑management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Exposure to municipal infrastructure projects or regulated environments is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical, instrumentation, and controls (EIC) design for water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants and pumping stations
  • Contribute to designs for power distribution, lighting, PLCs, communications, and control systems
  • Assist with preparation of drawings, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and presentations
  • Support tender submissions, contractor submittal reviews, and shop drawing evaluations
  • Participate in field reviews and site inspections under the supervision of a Professional Engineer
  • Contribute to commissioning activities to ensure systems perform safely and as intended
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver coordinated, high‑quality designs
