About The Position

Banner is looking for a hard-working individual to join their Sensors group in developing new product concepts, as well as engineering, manufacturing, and customer support. This Electrical Engineer III position will focus on analog design for new product development. The role involves being a contributing member in a collaborative environment with a good amount of autonomy. The individual will be part of a multi-disciplinary and highly technical team, collaborating with peer engineers to prototype and develop cutting-edge sensors products. The role will play a key part in all stages of product development, from initial technology evaluation and prototype design to successful release of final product and addressing field issues if they arise. This position is located at their corporate headquarters in Plymouth, MN and is a 5 day per week, in-office position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design as a design lead
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Effective working experience with analog / small signal electrical design
  • Proficiency with relevant circuit design software tools including schematic capture, PCB layout, and SPICE / simulation tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with test & measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, spectrum analyzers, custom test platforms, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, work in a collaborative team environment, and take initiative on design choices
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey ideas to others, both verbally and in written formats
  • Ability to manage different priorities in a fast-paced development environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pulsed LED and laser-based measurement systems
  • Experience working with or designing industrial sensing devices
  • Familiarity with design for Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) best practices
  • Working understanding of microcontrollers / microprocessors
  • Familiarity with software programming and optical engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with embedded system design

Responsibilities

  • Design analog and digital circuits for industrial automation sensors
  • Evaluate electrical system performance to ensure targeted specifications are met
  • Manage product documentation including bill of materials (BOMs), design verification reports, and engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • Work collaboratively with and sometimes lead small multidiscipline teams that may include optical, mechanical, software, and/or manufacturing engineers to provide globally competitive products
