About The Position

The Electrical Engineer III – Controls and Electrical Hardware Design is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of advanced robotic actuator systems, including rotary and linear motion solutions, for humanoid, industrial, and service robotics applications. This role leads electrical engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept development, system modeling, and detailed hardware design through prototyping, testing, validation, and production support. The incumbent applies advanced electrical engineering principles, control systems expertise, simulation tools, and analytical methods to develop innovative, reliable, and high-performance robotic solutions that meet quality, performance, manufacturability, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical product development and design.
  • Robotic actuator systems (servo, BLDC, stepper, and linear actuators).
  • Embedded C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong foundation in motor control, microcontrollers, power electronics and PCB design.
  • Sensor fusion and calibration.
  • CAN/CANopen, EtherCAT, Modbus, SPI, I²C, UART.
  • Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory test equipment
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize program deliverables from multiple sources and customers.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal and technical communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and validate electrical control systems for robotic actuators and electromechanical systems.
  • Select and integrate sensors, including encoders, IMUs, force/torque, current, pressure, and temperature sensors.
  • Develop actuator control architectures for DC, BLDC, servo, and stepper motors.
  • Design prototype controller hardware, including microcontroller/FPGA-based control boards, motor drivers, and power electronics.
  • Create electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Develop embedded firmware and software for real-time motion control and sensor integration.
  • Implement closed-loop control algorithms and optimize actuator performance.
  • Integrate communication protocols such as CAN, EtherCAT, SPI, I²C, UART, and Ethernet.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, and controller validation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support prototype development, production, and system integration.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, EMI/EMC, and reliability issues and implement corrective actions.
