About The Position

KDM Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join their team. This role will focus on the detailed design of mid-voltage distribution projects up to 34kV, adhering to company, OSHA, and IEEE standards. Projects may include 4 to 12kV conversions, Overhead to Underground conversions, smart grid, cable, and conduit design. The engineer will collaborate with clients and other team members, provide direction to drafters and designers, manage design schedules, and report project status updates. The position requires developing advanced skills and working both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency of power engineering theories and principles
  • Proficiency of practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing recommendations
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of building design, power generation plants, and/or utility systems
  • Ability to understand complex initiatives across multiple teams/platforms
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Quantitative and analytical skill set
  • Must be willing to comply with all pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification, education and employment verification, and background screening
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • BGE Experience preferred
  • CAD software knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Detailed design of mid-voltage distribution projects up to and including 34kV.
  • Interface closely with the client.
  • Utilize company, OSHA, and IEEE standards to facilitate design projects.
  • Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design basis.
  • Provide direction and guidance to drafters and designers.
  • Direct the flow of drafting and designer duties.
  • Ensure design schedules are met.
  • Regularly provide project status updates to the project engineer.
  • Develop advanced skills.
  • Work both independently and within a team.
