About The Position

Intermountain Electronics (IE) delivers dependable and effective critical power and process infrastructure and mission critical systems to virtually every industrial sector in North America. We provide custom-engineered, packaged equipment to industrial markets. We specialize in designing, manufacturing, automating and testing power distribution equipment for OEM, mission critical, oil and gas and mining industries. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager we are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Day Shift to be based at our facility. Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Ability to understand basic electrical circuit diagrams, schematics, electrical blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to utilize reference tables to determine the definition of basic electrical symbols and design callouts.
  • Ability to read and understand production reports related to quality, and quantity.
  • Ability to write NCR’s and comply with safety rules.
  • Ability to establish productive and effective communication ties and relationships with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and staff.
  • College level technical math.
  • Experience in Power Distribution (Power and Control), switchgear, PDU, transformers, and Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Technology with 5-10 years of electrical design experience, or an Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology with 9-12 years of experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the National Electric Code, IEEE standards, MSHA, and other applicable standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Power Distribution (Power and Control), switchgear, PDU, transformers, and Manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, technical drawings, and schematics at a high level.
  • Create electrical design drawings using AutoCad Electric.
  • With some guidance from senior electrical engineers, update and/or create new electrical power and control design documents from project specifications and reference documents.
  • Perform most electrical calculations for current and new designs with limited assistance.
  • Update instrumentation and electrical and control portions of a P&ID drawings with little guidance.
  • Program PLCs and HMIs and set up most PID loop designs with limited assistance from a senior electrical engineer.
  • Perform basic functions using MS Office and similar business-related software.
  • Add and manage BOMs, perform required research for needed information, and assist with the management of project schedules using Epicor.
  • Assist in leading a team of fellow engineers, designers, and drafters with resolving design challenges.
  • Perform intermediate electrical troubleshooting and problem solving with some oversight.
  • Interface with engineering staff, manufacturing staff, and operations staff in a productive manner to gain needed information to properly perform electrical design work.
  • Participate in engineering design meetings to learn and grow experience of design methods and processes.
  • Work closely with fellow engineers, designers, and drafters to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Guide entry-level electrical designers and CAD drafters in the performance of their work.
  • Contribute to electrical design reviews for new and existing product designs.
