Electrical Engineer II is the Second working level of the engineering series. To provide electrical engineering support for production operations and the continuous improvement of machine and equipment controls. WHAT YOU GET TO DO Acts as an electrical engineering resource to assist Maintenance Technicians troubleshoot machine control problems when additional resources, skills, or knowledge are required to solve the problem. Focal person to work with external technical resources, when necessary, to problem solve and implement solutions. Develops training documentation of solutions and safe procedures to communicate with all Maintenance Technicians. Manages machine and equipment upgrade projects including investigations, cost estimates, installations, and start-up. This can include expense type projects as well as capital upgrade projects. Learns new capital equipment operation, controls structure/design, and hardware in order to build knowledge and proficiency to support and implement effective maintenance. Assist Project Engineering with equipment installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary. Secures, maintains, and applies knowledge of current industry practices for safe work practices and safe equipment operation. Examples are National and State Electrical codes and NFPA70E (arc flash) codes. Key resource for verifying and overseeing the completion of preventative maintenance on electrical substations and high voltage switchgear. This includes documentation of observations, testing, and follow-up actions. Participates as a team member on equipment project teams, safety teams, and continuous improvement teams to continuously improve operations (including safety, quality, service, and costs). WHAT WE VALUE Project management experience required problem solving, troubleshooting experience required CAD skills are required Knowledge of plant power distribution, control systems, and PLC’s preferred Ability to use measuring devices, read mechanical/electrical drawings, develop and use charts and schedules Ability to be a self-starter and take action on projects proactively Good communication skills both oral and written. Ability to interact with plant personnel at all levels. General training or understanding of industry safety work practices.
