About The Position

As an engineer within Wabtec Bus Solutions, you will support the design and development focused on a mix of controls, harnesses, and other electrical systems for doors, ramps, lifts, charging, and other bus-related product lines. Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Supervisor, and sometimes working under guidance of senior engineers, you will design and develop electrical based components and assemblies, assist in product development, and help ensure compliance with engineering standards. This role is ideal for engineers looking to deepen their technical skills and operate within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Basic project management skills (scopes, plans, & costs)
  • Experience supporting development of electrical based systems in transportation
  • Familiarity of electrical design of systems and components including engineering & manufacturing principles, practices, and procedures
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity of NPD Stage Gate, DFMEA, Problem Solving Techniques, DFM/DFA, Engineering Analysis, & Hand Calculations
  • Experience in PCB design with analog/digital circuits, power, and signal conditioning
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to create and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently on defined tasks and collaborate effectively

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing electrical systems based on customer and project needs
  • Create and revise wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings
  • Contribute to innovation & patents
  • Support senior engineers in designs, DFMEAs, and validation testing
  • Participate in prototype builds and test planning
  • Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting in lab or production environments
  • Analyze test results and recommend design improvements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain for DFM/DFA alignment
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or field issues
  • Support Sales and Field Service teams in resolving technical problems
  • Maintain clear documentation and communication across teams
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team-based problem-solving
