About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support laboratory and facility design projects within their Life Sciences business unit. This role involves all phases of electrical engineering design, from concept through construction, for complex laboratory and facility projects. The successful candidate will collaborate across disciplines and engage with clients to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum four (4) years of electrical design experience, preferably in A/E consulting
  • Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE)
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required for client projects

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is desired, or the ability to obtain a license within one (1) year.
  • Experience with laboratory or federal clients (e.g., USDA, ARS, CDC)
  • RCDD certification
  • Experience with electrical analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, AGi32, or similar

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for laboratory and facility projects (power distribution, lighting, emergency/UPS, fire alarm, telecommunications, and security systems)
  • Prepare construction documents, calculations, reports, and specifications
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Support construction administration efforts, including submittal review, RFIs, and coordination with contractors
  • Participate in client meetings and occasional site visits
