About The Position

The Electrical Engineer is generally responsible for performing all aspects of electrical engineering design assignments using sound theoretical knowledge and practical industrial design methods. This role supports and contributes to larger and more complex electrical engineering projects and works under general supervision while exercising independent judgment within defined project scopes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • 3+ years of relevant industrial electrical engineering experience is required, preferably within chemical, manufacturing, refining, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting capital projects through multiple project phases is strongly preferred.
  • Experience executing electrical engineering work on large capital or brownfield projects is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, grounding, lighting, and hazardous area classifications.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, PLCs, and electrical interfaces to instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Understanding of electrical equipment specifications, installation requirements, and commissioning support.
  • Ability to mentor and support the development of less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams with strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with capital project stage-gate processes and overall project execution methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations applicable to industrial and chemical manufacturing facilities (e.g., NFPA 70, NFPA 70E).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including engineering disciplines, project management, operations, procurement, and construction, to ensure seamless project execution and successful delivery.
  • Support the execution of the electrical engineering scope of work at selected engineering service providers across all project phases, including Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design.
  • Define electrical discipline activities, required deliverables, and detailed execution schedules.
  • Develop and maintain detailed “in/out” critical information lists to ensure proper information flow and interface management.
  • Track execution progress, forecast completion, and report status for assigned electrical discipline activities.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of design changes to the approved scope of work and verify proper implementation of approved changes.
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation in compliance with project requirements.
  • Apply applicable industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical and industrial sectors, such as NEC, IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and ISO, in the design and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Perform design reviews and quality checks to ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
  • Support electrical equipment selection, vendor evaluations, and technical clarifications during procurement.
  • Stay informed of advancements and best practices in electrical engineering within industrial and chemical manufacturing environments and identify opportunities for improvement and standardization.
