About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer I, you will contribute to the development and support of innovative patient temperature management medical devices that directly impact patient safety and clinical outcomes. You will work within a cross-functional engineering and business team to design, test, and improve complex electromechanical systems that control patient temperature in critical care and surgical procedures. This role offers the opportunity to: Invent and improve medical devices that improve patient outcomes and safety Develop foundational knowledge of the wide variety of clinical needs for patient temperature management Gain hands-on experience across the full product portfolio and throughout the entire lifecycle (concept through commercialization) Design solutions for global markets in a highly regulated environment (FDA, IEC 60601) Develop expertise in thermal systems, control electronics, and medical device design Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to deliver safe and effective products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of: Analog and digital circuit design, Basic control systems and signal measurement
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience within the medical device or temperature management environment.
  • Experience with heating elements, sensors, and embedded systems.
  • Exposure to: Change control process, Design control process, Verification/validation process, Temperature control systems (PID control, heaters, sensors)
  • PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable standards: IEC 60601-1 (electrical safety / thermal devices)

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of electrical subsystems including: Heater control circuits, power electronics, and temperature sensing systems, Physiological closed-loop controls, PCB schematics and layout under supervision
  • Assist in translating user needs and design inputs into engineering specifications
  • Contribute to component selection based on performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements
  • Define and perform bench testing, verification, and validation activities: Electrical safety (e.g., leakage current, grounding), Signal integrity, Thermal performance and control stability
  • Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and environmental chambers
  • Document test results in accordance with design control requirements
  • Support root cause investigations for product or test failures
  • Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and design improvements
  • Participate in risk management and failure analysis of electrical and thermal systems
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support: New product introductions (NPI), Design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA)
  • Help resolve production issues and evaluate component or supplier changes
  • Drive change control projects to implementation, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring timely, compliant execution
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation including: Schematics, BOMs, and test protocols, Design history file (DHF) contributions
  • Ensure compliance with: IEC 60601 standards (electrical safety, thermal performance)
