As a Project Electrical Engineer at Envista Forensics, you will play a crucial role in conducting forensic investigations related to electrical incidents and failures. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of engineers and experts to determine origin and root causes of accidents, equipment malfunctions, product defects, and other mechanical failure related issues. Your findings will be essential in helping our clients make informed decisions and resolving complex legal and insurance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent discipline required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering field
  • PE in state of employment or the ability to obtain one within 12 months
  • Willingness to travel to clients’ sites (25-30%); ability to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with forensic investigation practices and principles is a plus.
  • 5 years’ experience evaluating electrical failures in a commercial or industrial setting preferred.
  • Power systems experience (generators, transformers, switchgear, etc.) is a plus
  • Electro-mechanical experience is desirable.
  • Experienced working with lawyers, insurance companies, and adjusters preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate electrical failures, defects, or damage in industrial, commercial, and residential settings.
  • Determine causes of electrical system failures and assess design/construction quality or maintenance procedures.
  • Lead field investigations and document property damage for multi-party examinations.
  • Collaborate on large, complex projects within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Research failure modes and provide repair or remediation recommendations; Prepare reports and letters detailing the cause of damage for clients.
  • Provide deposition and expert testimony in product liability for civil, federal, and occasional criminal court cases to testify about damages and professional liability.
