About The Position

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer / Electrical Designer to join our Electrical Engineering Group. This is an in-office role based out of Burlington, ON. In this role you’ll be responsible for designing and developing electrical power and control systems for refrigeration and cooling industry. The successful candidates will be hands-on, electrically and mechanically inclined with a degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics with some electrical engineering experience.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Experience with electrical engineering design process for manufacturing
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge and experience of CSA & UL Standards and control panels certification process
  • Good knowledge of AC motors protection and controls, VFD’s, Soft Starters, PLC’s
  • Good knowledge of electrical and electronic instrumentation for process control
  • Experience with control panels manufacturing processes
  • Good team player, ability to work independently and accept responsibilities
  • Ability to schedule work, deal with conflicts and meet deadlines
  • Ability to document engineering designs, prepare record files
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical problems
  • Ability to coordinate with panel shop personnel & electricians to ensure successful project completion

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of control strategies for refrigeration equipment and systems would be an asset
  • Familiarity with SAP software would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Participate in kick off meetings to determine project scope, requirements, deliverables, budget and schedules
  • Design and develop electrical circuits for motor controls using MCC’s, VFD’s and Soft Starters
  • Perform calculations and size electrical components using Canadian and American standards and codes
  • Design control circuits for temperature and pressure controls using programmable controllers and relay logic
  • Prepare electrical drawings and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Coordinate and integrate starter panels and MCC’S design with PLC’s panels
  • Prepare bills of material and issue material requisitions to purchasing department using SAP software
  • Provide technical support to Panel Shop and electricians during manufacturing and testing process
  • Assist Service Department with remote troubleshooting and equipment commissioning when required
  • Liaise with project engineering and mechanical department, customers, and suppliers
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement /Lean Manufacturing meetings
