Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in the electrical utility engineering sector, with a focus on system studies.
  • In-depth knowledge of power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of protective relay settings and coordination, along with relevant industry standards (ANSI, IEC, IEEE).
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • A proactive approach to solving engineering challenges and enhancing team performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates that possess previous engineering experience in electrical facilities for the Transmission and Distribution, Power generation, Industrial and Renewables sectors
  • Experience in construction and field installations considered an asset
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGGA or ASET is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed engineering studies, including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and protective relay coordination.
  • Apply knowledge of components, arrangements, and standards to complete design packages for substations that include, but are not limited to, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
  • Participate in technical discussions and presentations to clients and internal teams.
  • Research and apply relevant industry standards and best practices to improve study methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem resolution through field data analysis and study results interpretation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals and technical reports for clients.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery.
