We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing and developing ONTO SDI's optical measurement equipment for the Semiconductor industry. This position will be based at ONTO SDI in North Billerica, MA, and will report to the Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate is excited about pushing the boundaries of semiconductor technology, eager to make impactful contributions to the company and our customers, and enjoys working with complex industrial systems. In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams in developing new tests and R&D setups. You should be able to work under pressure and on tight timelines, and thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • Must have 2+ years of product development experience, preferably engaged in the manufacture of advanced semiconductor equipment.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical fields.
  • Proficiency with design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium Designer, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ePlan).
  • Experience with electrical layouts and design (AC and DC).
  • Experience working on industrial equipment interlocks and EMO safety systems.
  • Experience working with and maintaining NRTL safety and electrical certifications.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience working in a production and R&D environment.
  • Background working with programmable instruments, motion controllers, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Extensive experience working independently
  • Proficient at soldering electrical cabling and PCBs (both through-hole and surface-mount components).
  • Experienced working with key module and component suppliers
  • Strong problem-solving, technical skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate, quantitative, and timely analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in the development of semiconductor equipment, including optical-based equipment, is a plus
  • Experience with embedded systems, PCB design, PLCs, or microcontrollers is highly desirable.
