About The Position

This role will offer a hybrid work arrangement from our future Knoxville office. The expectation will be to spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering in a professional position that offers a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities. The opportunity will have you teaming up with other engineers and designers involved in nuclear plant electrical systems betterment and associated modifications.

Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a strong academic background in electrical power concepts/power systems analysis
An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

A Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
1 or more years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment
Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as ETAP or SKM
Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.

Preparation of design reports
Receive training and mentorship from experienced engineers in the execution of meaningful project engineering assignments
Become involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Take engineering problems from issue to solution using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
Build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.
