Electrical Engineer 2 - Nuclear
About The Position
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering in a professional position that offers a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities. The opportunity will have you teaming up with other engineers and designers involved in nuclear plant electrical systems betterment and associated modifications, which will include electrical systems design, preparation of complex calculations (load flow and short circuit, power flow, system impact, cable ampacity), preparation of documented design inputs, preparation of equipment and material specifications, and preparation of design reports. Additional opportunities will include receiving training and mentorship from experienced engineers in the execution of meaningful project engineering assignments, becoming involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services, and traveling to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a strong academic background in electrical power concepts/power systems analysis
- An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
Nice To Haves
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
- 1 or more years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment
- Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as ETAP or SKM
- Interest in learning and effectively using emerging technologies where relevant to their role
- Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant
