About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking an Electrical/Electronic Engineer SME to provide support to the Air Force at Eglin AFB, FL under the Technical and Management Advisory Services (TMAS) Armament Task Order contract. The role involves supporting the Science and Technology (S&T) community in developing advanced weapon concepts and technologies to improve weapon performance and integration. This includes identifying and implementing technology investment ideas to address warfighter capability gaps, defining project scope, budget, schedule, and risk. The engineer will also generate system and subsystem requirements based on threat analysis, warfighter needs, and emerging technologies, and perform complex trade-off studies. Responsibilities include preparing technical documents, monitoring S&T development progress, evaluating requirements and design documents, reviewing hardware and software development plans, and assessing interface specifications. The position also requires providing advice in technical meetings, monitoring test planning and execution, reviewing test reports, and supporting on-site ground and flight tests. Additionally, the engineer will design, plan, and support in-house tests, analyze results, and report findings.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and/or Physics is required.
  • At least 10 years’ of applicable experience is also required.
  • Position requires candidates possess a current TOP SECRET security clearance with a background investigation completed within the past 5 years.
  • Must be willing to support geographically dispersed activities and be willing to travel ~2 times monthly.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and/or Physics
  • Strong weapon systems engineering background, knowledge and experience, including a sound understanding of weapon system survivability/effectiveness design and performance evaluation.
  • Strong engineering background in, knowledge of and experience in: Multi-spectral observables/signature management design, material selection and application, component integration, and performance evaluation.
  • Multispectral computational electromagnetic (CEM) prediction techniques and codes.
  • Multi-spectral observables/signature management measurement techniques, including near and far-field measurements utilizing anechoic chamber and outdoor test facilities.
  • Weapon system survivability analysis methodology
  • Good understanding of air and ground threat systems and their performance.
  • Able to think deeply and deliberately on methods to harness new or existing technologies.
  • Able to work well with others in a small high performing team environment.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Science and Technology (S&T) community in the development of advanced weapon concepts and technologies to dramatically improve weapon performance to include weapon-platform integration.
  • Assist in identifying, developing and implementing technology investment ideas to mitigate capability gaps for warfighters, including definitions of scope of work, budget, schedule and risk to further technologies.
  • Assist in generating system and subsystem requirements based on a thorough understanding of complex technical aspects of current and emerging threats, overarching warfighter requirements, capability trade studies, and emerging technologies.
  • Assist and advise in performing complex system and subsystem tradeoff studies, to include make-buy decisions, functional allocations, cost, weight, size and performance.
  • Prepare and coordinate written specifications, performance work statements and other technical documents (e.g. trip reports).
  • Monitor S&T development progress and document/report this progress to the team.
  • Evaluate requirements, functional descriptions, and hardware and software specifications for completeness and requirements traceability.
  • Review hardware and software development plans and design documents for conformance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Review interface specifications, drawings, and design documents to assess functional, signal, electrical and physical interfaces.
  • Provide advice in technical meetings, project reviews and test planning meetings.
  • Monitor test planning and test conduct and document/report this progress to the team.
  • Review test plans, procedures and schedules to evaluate completeness/accuracy, requirements traceability, compliance with test requirements, risks and risk mitigation plans.
  • Review test reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide on-site test support (ground and flight).
  • Design, plan, and support in-house tests to measure performance, reduce and analyze test results to quantify performance, and provide test result reporting.
