About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (FL) office is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer or Analyst with 3+ years of experience to join their MEP team. This role involves supporting the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team on large-scale projects, participating in an active production role within project teams, and engaging in both internal and external client meetings. The position requires the preparation of project specifications and electrical construction cost estimates, along with daily interaction and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include coordination and verification of as-built drawings, performing quality work to promote client retention, and coordinating with specialists for fire alarm, technology, and lighting design. The role also involves coordinating with architects, mechanical/plumbing engineers, and other disciplines for equipment power needs and electrical distribution sizing, as well as performing electrical design calculations for loads and panel schedules. The engineer will be responsible for developing reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, and power analyses.

Requirements

• 3+ years of design experience in electrical engineering
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months required
• Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
• Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
• The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Nice To Haves

• advanced degrees are a plus
• Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
• Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
• Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience

Responsibilities

• Support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically working on large scale projects.
• Participate on project teams in an active production role
• Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
• Preparation of project specifications
• Preparation of electrical construction cost estimates
• Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
• Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
• Perform quality work that promotes client retention
• Coordinate with specialists for fire alarm, technology and lighting design as required by project scope of work
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical/plumbing engineers and other disciplines for equipment power needs and sizing electrical distribution
• Perform electrical design calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules
• Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, and power analyses.
