About The Position

Turner & Townsend is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Drafter to support an EV Client’s utility service applications and Design Documentation. In this role, you will be instrumental in bridging preliminary engineering concepts into actionable drawing packages, with a strong focus on utility service applications and schematic/CD30% packages. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, project managers, and clients to translate technical requirements into clean, accurate, and standardized electrical drawings.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of electrical drafting experience.
  • Experience supporting electrical designs for commercial or industrial buildings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting tools used to create drawing packages.
  • Experience developing electrical details and standardized design templates.
  • Experience creating CD drawing sets using building base plans.
  • Experience developing site plans and single-line diagrams for utility service applications.
  • Ability to work closely with the internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and develop the drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Draft 30% Construction Document Drawing sets: Create preliminary electrical drawing sets from architectural, structural, and civil base plans. Lay out main power distribution routing, equipment sizing footprints, preliminary lighting/receptacle circuitry, panelboard locations, and general notes in accordance with project scopes and initial design criteria.
  • Establish CAD Standards, Details, and Reusable Templates: Build and maintain standardized drafting templates, dynamic blocks, layer standards, and detail libraries. Continuously optimize drafting workflows to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across all project deliverables.
  • Coordinate Base Plans and Cross-Discipline Integration: Import, clean, and manage background drawings from multidisciplinary teams. Identify spatial clashes, routing conflicts, and clear working space clearances for electrical switchgear and equipment early in the design cycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface directly with internal electrical engineers, project managers, and clients. Actively gather project criteria, incorporate review redlines/markups accurately, and participate in project kickoff and coordination meetings to align drafting output with client expectations.
