About The Position

The Nebraska Public Power District is seeking a motivated individual to join their team as an Electrical Drafter I or II. This role involves creating and revising electrical/electronic design drawings using technical computer applications. The Electrical Drafter I will focus on low to medium complexity drawings, while the Electrical Drafter II will handle medium to high complexity drawings and design lower difficulty control plans. Requirements

  • Electrical Drafter I: Associate degree in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology OR post high school education or similar military training in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology with one (1) year of experience in a drafting/design environment and/or application of electrical theory and principles OR high school diploma/GED with three (3) years of electromechanical or electrical experience in the drafting/design environment.
  • Electrical Drafter II: Associate degree in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology with two (2) years’ experience in a drafting/design environment OR post high school education or similar military training in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology with three (3) years of experience in a drafting/design environment and/or application of electrical theory and principles OR high school diploma/GED with four (4) years of electromechanical or electrical experience in the drafting/design environment.
  • Basic AutoCAD knowledge and experience preferred (Electrical Drafter I).
  • Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD knowledge with a minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred (Electrical Drafter II).
  • May require badging for CNS.
  • May require NERC access.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise electrical/electronic design drawings of low to medium complexity (Electrical Drafter I).
  • Create and revise electrical/electronic design drawings of medium to high complexity (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Design lower difficulty control plans (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Understand and enter associated drawing metadata.
  • Utilize technical computer applications, including Computer-Aided Design (CAD) applications (AutoCAD), personal computers, engravers, and plotters.
  • Comprehend technical mark-ups, engineering data, and computer application requirements.
  • Accurately apply designs to standard drawing layouts and metadata to computer applications.
  • Research drawing information, vendor, and material resources within and outside NPPD to acquire accurate drawing information.
  • Obtain and record facility information through facility inspections.
  • Ensure drawings accurately reflect facility infrastructure.
  • Assist the Drafting Structural/Civil Group upon request.
  • Provide support for CAD System Technical Analyst as needed.
  • Create and revise various types of drawings including T&D, GGS, Sheldon, Telecom, Exhibits, Switch Maps, Nameplates, SOC Signs, District Signs, etc. (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction with minimal oversight and guidance (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Assist in the training of other employees (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Independently research drawing information, vendor, and material resources (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Independently obtain and record facility information through facility inspections (Electrical Drafter II).
  • Accountable for other duties as assigned.
