About The Position

The Electrical Distribution Engineer is accountable for the successful commissioning, startup, and qualification of new power‑distribution assets while ensuring the ongoing reliability, safety, and performance of existing infrastructure. This role blends hands‑on field execution with rigorous documentation, standards compliance, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, fault‑tolerant electrical systems for industrial facilities. Key areas of focus include Medium & Low Voltage Switchgear, Transformers, System Protection elements (relaying, breakers and electronic trip units), UPS and Generator Backup Equipment, Motor Controllers (Starters, VFDs, etc.), and SCADA Systems.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering at an ABET accredited institution.
  • Minimum 4 years Electrical maintenance experience focused in an industrial setting.
  • Working knowledge of IBC, IFC, and other codes and standards applicable to industrial power distribution system design and reliability.
  • Detailed working knowledge of industrial power distribution systems design, maintenance and electrical power monitoring equipment.
  • Daily use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage assets and maintenance schedules.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industries and Construction vertical standards
  • Strong creative problem solving skills, leadership potential, and a desire to contribute to a very aggressive safety culture that values engineering analysis to ensure “prevention through design” at every point of work.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for data analysis including Pivot Tables, data source linking through VLOOKUP, and simple script creation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills are required to effectively communicate technical content to various organizations.
  • Permanent right to work in US and ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor fab experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license issued or recognized by the State of Texas is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams to align requirements and schedules.
  • Lead the pre‑commissioning, functional testing, and energization of medium‑ and low‑-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and motor‑control equipment.
  • Verify protection schemes (relays, circuit breakers, electronic trip units) operate per design intent and industry standards (IEEE, IEC, NEMA).
  • Conduct detailed safety verifications (Lock‑out/Tag‑out, arc‑flash analysis, grounding checks) before applying power.
  • Ensure all work adheres to applicable codes (NFPA 70E, NEC, IEC 61850, ANSI/IEEE) and internal corporate procedures.
  • Produce commissioning reports, as‑built drawings, punch‑list items, and close‑out documentation.
  • Log deficiencies, generate corrective‑action plans, and track resolution through the project management system.
  • Interface newly commissioned assets with SCADA/EMS platforms; validate telemetry, alarms, and remote control functions.
  • Coordinate with automation engineers to ensure proper tag mapping and data integrity.
  • Perform fault‑diagnosis, performance validation, and corrective actions on newly installed and legacy equipment.
