About The Position

RCM Process & Industrial Services Division is looking for an Electrical Designer in our Buffalo, NY area office. This role involves working on and developing electrical models, designs, and drawings in a 2D and 3D environment. The ideal candidate will have or develop familiarity with sound design/drafting methods and standards, and be capable of developing designs and drawings based on common input information such as P&ID drawings, one lines, I/O and motor schematic drawings, and equipment drawings. The position also requires coordinating project design activities with designers from other disciplines, working independently while recognizing when to seek assistance, and participating in site visits and evaluations within plants to gather information, assess site conditions, verify designs, and provide on-site assistance during start-up or construction.

Requirements

  • Experience in preparing electrical and instrumentation drawings, including one lines, bills of material, cable tray plans, conduit plans, grounding plans, instrument location plans, etc.
  • Ability to create models and drawings using Autodesk Plant Design Suite (including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Navisworks).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adherence to detail, with a desire to create accurate, organized, and well laid out drawings.
  • Ability to work with junior staff to coordinate workload, as well as provide mentoring, training, and guidance.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client locations and perform work on construction sites and in operating industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Ten years experience as an electrical designer is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA Standards and Codes is desirable.
