About The Position

Atlantic Constructors is seeking an Electrical Designer to perform electrical, instrumentation, and controls design work supporting chemical production units, auxiliary systems, modular buildings, and data center infrastructure. The role provides design and technical services to operations and service units to support safe operations, regulatory compliance, and improved availability and efficiency. The ideal candidate works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication teams and has technical knowledge of electric power systems, field instrumentation, and local and distributed control systems, with basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes also valuable. The position supports all phases of project design, execution, installation, commissioning, and operation. It also provides technical support to engineering and construction contractors, operations, and maintenance. The role is remote for candidates residing in VA, SC, TN, PA, OH, FL, IL, MO, TX, KS, MN, AZ, UT, NV, or WA, and may involve visits to a prefabrication shop, construction site, or jobsite, as well as infrequent travel. The work is primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. Requirements

Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology, or an equivalent science field.
At least 5 years of related experience in a Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
At least 5 years of electrical, instrumentation, or controls installation experience.
Advanced knowledge of technical standards and guidelines, including API, NEC, NFPA, and IEEE.
Ability to assess complex problems, define solutions, and implement sustainable improvements.
Ability to translate complex issues into understandable and engaging explanations.
Ability to translate creative ideas into tangible solutions.

Nice To Haves

Prior military experience.
Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial, MEP, and/or modular construction projects.
Basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes.

Responsibilities

Design electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems for capital projects.
Create client-issue drawings and detailed fabrication drawings using Revit.
Develop electrical Revit families and custom electrical components.
Prepare single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, interconnection schedules, and panel schedules.
Design and coordinate MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, PDUs, CDUs, PLC systems, and fire alarm systems.
Support engineering and construction contractors as needed.
Provide technical support to operations and maintenance when needed.
Understand and apply industry codes relevant to an industrial manufacturer.
Provide instrumentation and controls design support throughout project design, execution, installation, commissioning, and operation.
Maintain and apply company instrumentation design criteria and specifications and recognized industry standards.
Troubleshoot and diagnose instrumentation issues involving electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems.
Assist with factory acceptance testing and field inspections.
Create, update, and draft design documents, including loop sheets, motor schematics, panel schedules, I/O cabinets, and onelines.
Propose options to resolve issues and assess complex problems, define solutions, and implement sustainable improvements.
Build collaborative working relationships across disciplines and departments, and communicate complex issues clearly.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
