About The Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us as an Electrical Designer within the Naval Defense organization based in Peterborough, ON. This is a high-profile role that will give you direct exposure to a diverse portfolio of Naval Handling Equipment programs. The Electrical Designer will develop electrical systems from an architectural concept to a physical design that can be manufactured and tested.

Requirements

  • A recognized electrical engineering degree and eligible to gain a license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P. Eng.
  • Work experience of 2 – 3 years, preferably in the electrical field.
  • Proficiency in English with a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada for greater than 5 years.
  • Must pass Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance Checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Needs to be comfortable working with large equipment.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasional basis to support product commissioning/testing in the field.
  • Experience with industrial control systems (PLC,HMI) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes/translates high level requirements and applicable standards into electrical design requirements.
  • Liaises with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective electrical design.
  • Designs and implements electrical designs to meet requirements including testability.
  • Analyzes electrical designs for functional behavior, which may include modelling and simulation to demonstrate that the design meets high level requirements.
  • Develops and reviews electrical tests that will provide evidence to demonstrate that the electrical requirements have been satisfied.
  • Analyzes verification test results against electrical requirements; produces reports and associated documentation.
  • Manages testing at third-party test house(s).
  • Supports system level testing at our facility and in the field.
