About The Position

Amentum is a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative solutions, supporting critical missions across defense, intelligence, energy, and civilian sectors. The company is seeking an Electrical Designer to support its Oak Ridge, TN office. In this role, the Electrical Designer will perform various electrical design functions, including the development of facility models and construction drawings such as plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations and details, schedules, and bills of materials. The position also involves the complete design of lighting systems for buildings and outdoor areas, including fixture selection and model calculations for normal and emergency lighting levels. Additional activities may include assisting with cost estimating and equipment summaries for bills of materials. The work location is in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with options for remote or hybrid work.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering from a certified institution
  • Four (4) or more years of electrical engineering design experience
  • Construction support experience for Title 3 activities
  • Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
  • Short Circuit Analysis experience
  • Working knowledge of the NEC
  • Knowledge of broad range of electrical systems is required, including power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection
  • Ability to independently produce construction documentation using 2-D and 3-D applications is required
  • Experience in providing construction support or services during construction is required
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard on the employee or others
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug, background check and site security badge screening

Nice To Haves

  • NQA-1 experience desired
  • Lighting calculation experience
  • Familiarity with 3-Dimensional Applications

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of electrical design functions
  • Develop facility models and construction drawings such as plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations and details, schedules and bills of materials

  • Conduct lighting design, including fixture selection and model calculations to determine lighting level for normal and emergency lighting situations
  • Assist with cost estimating and equipment summary for bills of materials
