As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the development and execution of instrumentation and electrical design packages for industrial automation and control system projects. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop scalable, compliant, and manufacturable solutions supporting PLC, SCADA, DCS, MCC, and industrial control applications. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical design, instrumentation, or controls engineering environments
  • Strong experience designing industrial electrical and automation systems using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Siemens NX, or similar platforms
  • Proven experience with PLC control systems, motor control schematics, low-voltage power distribution, instrumentation, and industrial networking
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMI, VFDs, and remote I/O architectures
  • Strong understanding of NEC, ISA, API, PIP, UL, and NEMA standards and their application in industrial environments
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, technical specifications, and engineering standards
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading electrical and controls design efforts for industrial automation projects
  • Experience supporting system integration, panel fabrication, commissioning, or startup activities
  • Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and hazardous area design requirements
  • Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or other industrial automation platforms
  • Exposure to industrial process industries including oil & gas, chemical, water/wastewater, manufacturing, or utilities
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of industrial electrical and instrumentation drawing packages for automation and control system projects
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, network architectures, cable schedules, and bill of materials
  • Design low-voltage power distribution, PLC control panels, remote I/O systems, industrial networks, and motor control systems
  • Support project execution from concept development through manufacturing, commissioning, and as-built documentation
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and applicable industry codes including NEC, ISA, API, PIP, UL, and NEMA
  • Perform design reviews and drawing checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and manufacturability
  • Support standardization efforts and help develop reusable engineering templates and best practices
  • Assist with troubleshooting, design optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering projects
  • Partner with engineers, project managers, panel shop personnel, and field technicians to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule
  • Support customer meetings, technical discussions, and project reviews as a subject matter resource for instrumentation and control systems
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to select components and ensure technical compatibility across systems
  • Support industrial automation systems involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS, instrumentation, drives, and industrial networking technologies
  • Contribute to projects involving hazardous area classifications, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and process control applications
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and long-term supportability of customer systems
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and industry best practices to support innovative customer solutions
