About The Position

Nesco Resource is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support a large-scale industrial engineering and capital project. This position will work onsite in Houston, TX as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and design team. The ideal candidate will have strong industrial electrical design experience along with experience developing detailed design and construction deliverables within an EPC environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial electrical design experience preferred.
  • Previous EPC or large capital-project experience.
  • Experience supporting chemical, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, energy or similar industrial facilities.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical design standards.
  • Experience with electrical equipment layouts, MCCs, cable tray, conduit, grounding, lighting and power distribution.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Revit experience strongly preferred.
  • BIM/cloud-based project experience strongly preferred.
  • ElectDES experience is highly desirable.
  • Navisworks or similar 3D model-review experience is a plus.
  • Associate degree or technical education in Engineering Technology, CAD/Design or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Revit experience strongly preferred.
  • BIM/cloud-based project experience strongly preferred.
  • ElectDES experience is highly desirable.
  • Navisworks or similar 3D model-review experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical design drawings and construction deliverables for industrial projects.
  • Produce single-line diagrams, electrical equipment layouts, grounding plans, lighting plans and power distribution drawings.
  • Develop cable and conduit routing, cable tray layouts and cable schedules.
  • Develop MCC layouts, connection diagrams and electrical installation details.
  • Prepare electrical construction packages.
  • Incorporate vendor equipment information into electrical design documents.
  • Support wire/conduit sizing, voltage-drop, conduit/tray fill and related design calculations.
  • Perform field verification, walkdowns and drawing redlines as required.
  • Review designs and drawings for accuracy and compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate with Electrical Engineers and other engineering/design disciplines.
  • Work within BIM and cloud-based design environments.
  • Support construction, commissioning and startup activities as required.
