The Electrical Designer I is responsible for the development of 2D and 3D drawings and checking drawings created by CAD Drafters. This role requires a minimum of 1 year of 3D modeling experience and 1 to 3 years of shipyard design or production/construction experience. Experience in the construction of high-speed aluminum vessels, modular construction methods, and design/construction of US Navy vessels is preferred. The position demands excellent written and oral communication skills, an understanding of scheduling, and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines. Computer literacy with Microsoft Office products is essential, as is experience interacting with multiple design teams and production members. Proficiency in 2D and 3D AutoCAD, including basic draw/modify commands, layer types, line types, dimensions, units of measure, creating orthographic views from isometric drawings, 3D modeling commands, creating 3D models from orthographic views or vendor information, and using the XREF command for interfacing with other disciplines is required. The ability to model in 3D without interferences is also necessary. Experience with ShipConstructor is preferred. A good understanding of design in areas such as Equipment, Electrical Fitout, Foundations, Hull, HVAC, Pipe, Product Hierarchy, Structure is beneficial.
