About The Position

Progressive Design, Inc. is seeking a Licensed Journeyman or an experienced Industrial Electrician with 5-10+ years of experience to transition into a design role. This position offers a stable, full-time opportunity in the Richmond area, focusing on heavy industrial power, machine control, and instrumentation. The company will provide training on design software, valuing the candidate's existing "field sense" and practical knowledge of constructibility and code application. This role serves as a technical bridge between client needs and finished designs, offering professional growth and a collaborative office environment.

Requirements

• Licensed Journeyman or experienced Industrial Electrician (5-10+ years).
• Solid understanding of heavy industrial environments (Chemical, Power, or Manufacturing).
• Ability to read a motor control circuit and understand grounding for sensitive instrumentation.
• Knowledge of the NEC, including hazardous area requirements (Class I/II).
• Entrepreneurial spirit and problem-solving skills.
• Pride in the accuracy and completeness of work.

Nice To Haves

• AutoCAD expertise (though training will be provided).

Responsibilities

• Perform fieldwork to identify components and research existing equipment.
• Develop power distribution and control concepts.
• Create construction cost estimates using knowledge of labor and materials.
• Apply NEC and NFPA standards to ensure designs are safe and compliant.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers.
