About The Position

An electrical designer is responsible for creating and designing electrical systems for various projects. They work closely with engineers to develop electrical plans and ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations. They utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts. Additionally, electrical designers may assist in selecting appropriate electrical components and equipment and providing technical support during manufacturing and installation phases. Strong knowledge of electrical principles, codes, and standards is essential for this role.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Minimum 0-3 years of experience in an Engineering/Designing role.
  • Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to order material electronically.
  • Basic drafting/CAD skills.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings.
  • Able to apply (told by others what it means and which code) NEC, ANSI, and Other as it applies to the day-to-day activity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with control panel design
  • Fluent in Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create specific point to point wiring diagrams and back pan layouts for various control panels such as SCADA Cabinet, PLC Panel, HMI Panel, and Power Management Systems
  • Design custom/semi-custom products to meet customer electrical specifications
  • Order wiring diagrams from vendors based on engineering design finalized drawings
  • Perform point-to-point checks on wiring diagrams created by vendors
  • Order wiring harness from vendors per approved wiring diagrams
  • Gain familiarity with electrical design and circuitry
  • Gain familiarity with industry codes and standards
  • Create basic design drawings with assistance
  • Update drawings per engineering and/or customer markups with direction from engineering personnel and transmit drawings to shop and customer
  • Update project bill of material per engineering and/or customer markups with direction from engineering personnel
  • Address shop questions and design clarifications with shop personnel with assistance and direction from project engineer
  • Complete “As Shipped” and “As Built” drawings and transmit drawings to Powell facility and customer
  • Attend in hour training sessions
  • Learn policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products
