About The Position

The Small Airborne Effectors Division within Leidos’ Kinetic Effects Business Area designs, develops, tests, and produces small to medium airborne missiles, unmanned vehicles, and payload effectors for defense customers. The Electrical Design Engineering Intern will work at Leidos’ Huntsville, Alabama office during the summer, supporting design, integration, and test programs related to missile systems and unmanned aircraft.

The role offers hands-on work across avionics, integration, test, mission support, and field operations in development, prototype, and production environments. The intern will support engineering design and integration, develop electrical designs and engineering documentation, collaborate with project teams, and test and assemble hardware in a laboratory environment. The work contributes to advanced technology programs across the product lifecycle, from research and development through production.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering at an ABET-accredited college or university.
• GPA of 3.2 or above.
• Knowledge of and ability to use common bench test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to reside in or relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area and work on-site.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with hardware and firmware design.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design software.
• Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers.

Responsibilities
