About The Position

P2S, a provider of professional engineering services, is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to support its healthcare studio. The company specializes in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology integration, offering services from engineering and commissioning to construction management. The position is full-time, hybrid, with a salary range of $85,000 - $102,000, and is considered an entry-level career position. The role is based in either the Long Beach, CA or Irvine, CA office.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of engineering design experience post-graduation or equivalent professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • AutoCAD

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low-voltage building systems (Fire Alarm, Security, Voice/Data, Nurse Call) is a plus.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
  • LEED Accreditation is a plus.
  • Prior experience working on healthcare/hospital buildings preferred.
  • Revit (a plus)
  • California Building Code (a plus)
  • National Electrical Code (a plus)
  • HCAI experience (a plus)
  • Net Zero Energy/Carbon design (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare, plan, and execute small to medium-sized healthcare projects with general supervision.
  • Apply standard design techniques and perform engineering calculations.
  • Contribute to construction documentation and administration.
  • Review existing as-built drawings.
  • Conduct field investigations.
  • Set up drawings and models for multiple disciplines.
  • Coordinate design schedules and deliverables.
  • Perform feasibility studies.
  • Prepare schematic designs.
  • Perform energy calculations using EnergyPro or IES VE.
  • Develop single-line diagrams and load schedules.
  • Design lighting systems and controls.
  • Engineer normal, emergency, and renewable power systems.
  • Conduct Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination Power System Studies.
  • Perform routine engineering work using standard techniques.
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations.
  • Prepare construction estimates and specifications for small projects.
  • Independently develop small reports and peer review small projects.
  • Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
  • Produce meeting reports and punch lists.
  • Participate in construction meetings and provide clarifications.
