About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking an early career Electrical Design Engineer to support the traffic surveillance hardware development group. This role will be to help advance both legacy and next‑generation CNS aviation products. In this role, you will directly influence the architecture, performance, and reliability of systems operating in some of the most demanding environments in aerospace. The ideal candidate is self-driven, detail‑oriented, and brings excellent communication skills along with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across multifunctional and multidisciplinary teams. Success in this position requires strong technical curiosity, flexibility, and the ability to coordinate seamlessly with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to achieve shared program goals. Applicant must have knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in electrical development engineering. This is an onsite position in Melbourne, Florida.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person – Military contract stipulates the candidates must be U.S. Persons.
  • Experience with common simulation platforms such as LT Spice, HyperLynx, etc.
  • Experience with major types of lab test equipment (O-scopes, pattern generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with avionics.
  • Experience working with embedded processors or FPGAs.
  • Experience with RF designs.
  • Experience with requirements development.
  • Familiarity with simulation & analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Experience with Schematic capture and layout tools, such as Mentor Graphics DX Designer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze electrical hardware requirements.
  • Provide design and engineering support for CNS sustainment products, with opportunities to contribute to new product development.
  • Managing component obsolescence identification and mitigation.
  • Analyze circuit performance using circuit simulation tools like LT Spice or HyperLynx.
  • Design, debug, and test Digital and/or mixed signal Circuits.
  • Develop schematics, oversee PCB layouts, and support design drawing development.
  • Participate in the build, debug, and test of electrical circuit designs.
  • Conduct electrical tests using common lab test equipment.
  • Develop verification test plans and procedures to ensure the developed product meets the specified requirements.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, and Manufacturing to ensure robust designs and appropriate testability.
  • Support product certification activities.
