About The Position

The Electrical & Controls TFA (Technical Field Advisor) provides hands on electrical and industrial controls field expertise to install, verify, commission, and troubleshoot mobile truck mounted turbine generator packages and their balance of plant interfaces. This role supports start up and reliability testing through turnover to operations, ensuring safe and reliable service of switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and SCADA/telemetry components.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Driver’s License required.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • Daily in person, predictable attendance.
  • Proficiency in spoken English language.
  • 10-15 years of hands on experience in industrial electrical and controls installation/commissioning support (PLC/HMI/SCADA exposure required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and network/architecture diagrams.
  • Proven troubleshooting capability across electrical/controls boundaries in a field environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices (LOTO, arc flash awareness, test equipment use) and strong safety culture.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work extended shifts in field conditions as required by the project.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with common PLC/HMI ecosystems (project dependent), e.g., Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens; Ignition/FactoryTalk/Wonderware.
  • Experience with generator packages, switchgear/transformers, and temporary/mobile power deployments.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking basics (managed switches, fiber/media converters, segmentation concepts) and time sync (NTP).
  • NFPA 70E training/familiarity and OSHA 10/30 (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Leads electrical safety by following LOTO, arc flash controls, energized work rules, and permit to work compliance.
  • Prepares and participates in JSA/JHA, pre task briefs, and hazard identification for commissioning activities.
  • Maintains field discipline across cable management, labeling, torque practices, and controlled access to panels and test areas.
  • Ensures all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and client/site requirements.
  • Verifies installation and termination of generator output, step up transformer/switchgear interfaces, and associated feeder cabling.
  • Verifies grounding and bonding, neutral/earthing schemes, and continuity of protective earth paths.
  • Verifies control power (AC/DC), UPS/batteries, heaters, and auxiliary power distribution.
  • Executes pre commissioning electrical checks, including continuity, insulation resistance, phase rotation, CT/VT verification, and torque verification.
  • Supports switchgear lineup inspections, interlock checks, and breaker control circuit functional verification.
  • Verifies controls cabinet readiness, including PLC/RTU, I/O modules, termination quality, and shielding practices.
  • Configures and verifies industrial communications, including Ethernet/fiber connections, IP addressing, and time synchronization (NTP).
  • Supports protocol connectivity and data flows for Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, and telemetry links to client SCADA/NOC.
  • Validates critical alarms, statuses, and control points with client and SCADA stakeholders.
  • Executes commissioning procedures and check sheets in accordance with the Commissioning Plan.
  • Supports I/O checkout, functional verification, and cause and effect testing of discrete and analog points.
  • Validates sequencing, permissives, and interlocks at the electrical/controls boundary.
  • Supports E stop, safety circuit verification, and synchronization readiness checks.
  • Assists with functional verification of protection and metering interfaces, including breaker status and trip indications.
  • Supports load bank and step load testing by capturing data, reviewing trends, and identifying anomalies.
  • Diagnoses and resolves issues across grounding, EMI, shielding, sensor mapping, and network stability.
  • Maintains configuration control for PLC programs, HMI projects, parameters, and software baselines.
  • Completes test packs, commissioning logs, and produces redlines or as built updates for wiring and network details.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
