About The Position

Nammo Perry is a center of excellence for the design, development and production of munitions and pyrotechnic products for the U.S. Department of Defense. Nammo employees working at the Florida site manufacture all types of 40mm low and high velocity ammunition; pyrotechnic marking; signaling and tactical illumination devices; battlefield effects training simulators; demolition charges; hand grenade fuzes; and other ammunition components. Additionally, they provide load, assemble, and pack (LAP) services for large caliber direct-fire ammunition.

Requirements

  • Two year Associate/Technical Degree and 5 years work experience or 15 years of work experience in the field.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems.
  • PLC/HMI programming – ability to troubleshoot and make minor modifications to existing programs.
  • The ability to understand and make modifications to electrical and pneumatic schematics of the following; PLC/HMI programming; Vision systems, VFD, servo actuators and robotics.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Recommend improvements to existing equipment in efforts to optimize the production process.
  • Coordinate projects such as installation of new equipment.
  • Identify and develop solutions to repetitive failures that adversely affect plant operations.
  • Be proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
  • Be able to critically think with exceptional problem solving skills, be able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at one time.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (explosives manufacturing a plus) providing technical support to fully automated, semi-automated and manual processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite preferred; GE Proficy Machine Edition (PLC & HMI); Visual Basic 6; LabView and/or Cognex Vision Software.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) within an industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) plans or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for all maintenance related controls troubleshooting on existing equipment.
  • Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions.
  • Set up predictive maintenance procedures to detect issues with equipment before failure.
  • Test, maintain, and modify existing systems in coordination with the engineering department.
  • Determine corrective maintenance actions
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Actively participate in the decision making process on equipment performance and design improvements.
  • Assure that equipment is installed and maintained in conformance with current codes and regulations.
  • Identifies safety hazards with equipment design and operation
  • Maintain good employee relations, and adhere to our Affirmative Action Plan, Labor laws and EEOC rules and regulations
  • Follows up and implement corrective actions for any safety related design/equipment issues.
  • Maintain adherence to Company policies and procedures, safety and environmental standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Ability to design control systems (AutoCAD Electrical), order associated parts, build electrical panels and install/startup control systems.
  • Audit and recommend spare parts for systems and sub-systems based on order-to-receive timeframe.
  • Other duties as assigned
