About The Position

ProMach, through its subsidiary Pace Packaging, is seeking an Electrical Controls Programmer to join their team in Fairfield, New Jersey. Pace Packaging specializes in providing automated solutions for various markets including food & beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care, household products, and wine & spirits. The Programmer will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing PLC, Servo, and HMI controls software for packaging machines and assemblies, innovating new automation solutions where necessary. This role involves close collaboration with customers, sales, manufacturing, and assembly teams to drive packaging innovation and exceed customer expectations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in E.E. or applicable education and experience.
  • Ability to work to technical specifications, schedule and budget constraints.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles.
  • General understanding of automation including industrial machines and robotics.
  • General understanding of electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office, ERP Systems, CAD).
  • Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000 PLC programming knowledge.
  • Allen Bradley Factory Talk programming knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Effective attention to detail, high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
  • Employee must be willing and able to fly. (Travel to customer sites).
  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in packaging industry preferred.
  • Allen Bradley Servo Control experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Beckoff Twincat and Siemens a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop PLC, Servo, HMI, Robotics programs utilizing available software platforms.
  • Confer with engineering personnel to prepare software modifications as required.
  • Interpret technical specifications and application parameters.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new machines on the shop floor.
  • Assist in the machine start-up at customer sites.
  • Perform software modifications to existing machines.
  • Assist installation team during install and commissioning of new machines.
  • Partner with all other departments as needed.
  • Design electrical control panels, machine wiring systems, power distribution, and control architectures that meet applicable UL, NEC, NFPA 79, NEMA, and CE requirements.
  • Create and maintain complete bills of material, electrical documentation, software backups, and engineering change records.
  • Create, review, and release accurate electrical schematics, panel layouts, technical drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software.
