About The Position

A leading global manufacturer of sustainable packaging solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to support industrial automation, maintenance reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for PLC programming, troubleshooting electrical and controls systems, supporting maintenance operations, and driving equipment reliability and plant performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading maintenance operations in an industrial manufacturing environment or 5+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with industrial automation, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial networking protocols.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical schematic interpretation.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, maintenance, or reliability-focused environments.
  • Strong leadership, project management, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMMS software.
  • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) or Reliability Engineering experience.
  • Experience leading maintenance teams in a continuous manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Siemens STEP 7 and Schneider Electric platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and automation issues on manufacturing equipment.
  • Support equipment commissioning, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain electrical schematics, technical documentation, and change records using AutoCAD.
  • Utilize CMMS software for maintenance planning, scheduling, asset management, and work coordination.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs and reliability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, OSHA requirements, and workplace safety standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts using methodologies such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and corrective action processes.
  • Manage maintenance priorities, projects, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Mentor technicians and support the development of maintenance and technical teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
