About The Position

We're partnering with a highly respected custom machine builder that has been designing and manufacturing automated material handling and processing equipment for more than 50 years. This is an opportunity to join a close-knit engineering team where you'll have direct ownership of controls design, PLC programming, HMI development, and machine commissioning from concept through customer startup. Every machine is custom. Every project is different. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of Electrical Controls Engineering experience
  • Hands-on Rockwell PLC programming experience (CompactLogix preferred)
  • Experience designing electrical control systems
  • AutoCAD experience for electrical schematic development
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to travel approximately 15%

Responsibilities

  • Design complete electrical control systems for custom automation projects
  • Specify PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, VFDs, sensors, safety devices, vision systems, and networking hardware
  • Develop electrical schematics and control drawings using AutoCAD
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Support machine integration and system architecture decisions
  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs using Rockwell CompactLogix
  • Design and configure operator interfaces (HMIs)
  • Develop motion control and servo applications
  • Integrate third-party equipment and automation systems
  • Support machine testing and factory acceptance activities
  • Participate in customer runoffs and startup activities
  • Travel to customer sites for commissioning and technical support
  • Provide post-installation troubleshooting and support
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineers throughout project development
  • Interface directly with customers during design, build, and installation phases
  • Support project execution from concept through commissioning
